Graphic Design Week 12/8

This animation is of a sun emitting solar flares. This was done by me following a tutorial on how to create a sun in After Effects. After completing the tutorial, I made my own alterations to learn more about the software.

I chose to do a Visual Narrative about someone stuffing another person in a suit case. I couldn't come up with any ideas and concepts to accomplish this task. One day I viewed a show on T.V. about women who killed their husbands. Though this doesn't show what exactly happened, it does show the dark and malicious intent of those who's minds have gone mad.

Graphic Design Week 12/1

This is an image of a character I have created to be in a story created by someone I know. I am in the process of building a back story for the character, and I already have a list of characteristics. This is only the front view, but I will continue working on the other views in the future. I also experimented using cross hatching for shading. I will be experimenting with other techniques until I find one or combination of techniques in order to build on my own unique art style.

Here is another picture of the same character. Here I also used cross hatching on a different scale, just to see how it looks when applied to a full body image. I choose his pose to show how his personality stands from other characters in the story he was created for. He is very serious and he is looking outward reflecting on decisions he will have to make in the future. No he is not wearing a cape, it a cloak in order for him to protect himself from sandstorms and other harsh environments. I also have him wearing something of a native american covering around his lower half  to emphasize his nationality.

Graphic Design Week 11/25

This week I have started to create a website using my company logo from professional development in my web design class. Here I tried to capture the essences of the universe by creating a dark theme complimented by a bright image. I have created everything on this page and I will modify it so that I will be able to use it in my portfolio.
Here is a poster I created to support tigers. Tigers are becoming endangered and I felt creating a poster showing the tiger's prowess get others to want to save the tigers as well. After completing this piece I felt as if it was missing something. After receiving some suggestions I felt having a logo over the website and removing the phrase allowing for the picture to stand for itself will make for a more appealing design.

Graphic Design 11/17

This week I've posted two images of a city on planet Cybertron, from Transformers that I rendered in maya.  I completed the model in my multimedia 2 class.  When I created the model I tried using different techniques so that I could remember them in the future, when I plan on working on my own 3D models. This view is a close up on the city as if you were standing between two buildings.

This is a high view showing the entire city.  The next time I work on a project like this I will have enough time to sketch and plan more on what I want my 3D render to look like.  My ideas on creating this part of cybertron was to create a city on Cybertron the supplied energy to some type of futuristic beam weapon.

Graphic Design Week 11/10

Today I have added two motivational posters that I entered in a motivational poster contest.  This poster was done by Terrell Wescott and myself.  We used many techniques to strengthen the design of this poster.  Of the three, which do you suppose I add to my design portfolio?

Here is the poster I did myself.  I wish I had more time to work on this, but I went ahead and submitted it anyways.  I had fun working on this poster as well as the other two, because I learned many techniques that I can apply to my other work and improve them.  If I had more time I would have spent it on trying to improve the look and texture of the sand and the foot prints in it.

Graphic Design Week 11/3

Welcome back.  Here I have used some new techniques to bring out an image.  While experimenting by transforming strokes in different ways, I came up with a formation of what seemed like wings.  I then used a similar technique on a complex stroke to give the wings a more mystical look.  I am trying to determine whether to use this piece as either a stay active campaign or a making dreams a reality ad.  I will accept all thoughts on how it looks or what can be changed to make it better.

Here is one motivational poster my group came up with, consisting of Kayla Yandle, Keith Jackson, and myself.  I also developed another motivational poster with Terrel Wescott, which I will upload later.  We found this picture on getty images.  I am currently in the process of developing my own motivational poster with my own art.  Once I am done with the third poster I will like to see which of the three should I put into my portfolio.

Graphic Design Oct. 20

Here is a logo I designed that represents the sun.  I found this after searching through my older projects. Personally I believe that it has the potential to make a great piece. So in terms of quality what do you think of this project? Should the rays from the sun be spaced evenly or should they be spaced unevenly for a more dramatic look?

This project was done when I could not think of anything in terms of design. I played around with the letters and numbers to see what I can get. This was totally unexpected, but I think it is interesting. The two 2's form a heart while the r's form the boarder. When I look at this I think of a jewelry store on valentines day. I plan on re-working this project in terms of color and neatness because where the 2's converge the lines become jagged and it takes away from the design. If you have any suggestions on what types of colors(what shades or color variations) I could use to improve my design, I'm willing to try anything different?
